Responsibilities and job description of a CNA instructor include:

• Preparing lessons
• Teach the applicants and offer practical and theoretical knowledge to the students so that they can pass the state certification exam
• Managing and observing the students’ academic progress
• Maintaining the grade and attendance records of the students
• Coordinating with the teaching faculty of the institute in order to organize or implement the nursing instruction program

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility. Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.

Safety and Sanitation

• Provide personal protective equipment to staff when performing procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
• Maintain a work environment that is clean and presents a professional image.

Personnel Functions

• Participates in staff reviews by observing performance and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing/Executive Director for action and monitoring.
• Develop clinical training assignments and ensure completion and performance of such assignments.

Education and Licenses

Must possess a current and active license to practice as an LPN/RN in this state.
