The organization is working to improve economic mobility and end intergenerational poverty through a holistic approach that is based on the Purpose Built Communities model. The initiative includes a simultaneous focus on mixed-income housing, a cradle-to-career education continuum, and supportive services for children and families. RWCI is a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization effort and represents an opportunity for resurgence in what was once one of Charlotte's most economically challenge neighborhoods.

    Position Description

    The Renaissance West Community Initiative (RWCI) Training Center Manager (TCM) will be responsible for the operations of the RWCI computer lab and training facilities to ensure that users have access to and assistance in the use of computer technology and training programs. The TCM assumes full responsibility for the operation, safety and security of the computer and training labs during scheduled morning, evening and weekend hours.

    The TCM will work with other RWCI Career and Workforce Development staff to implement training courses and programs for residents and staff of RWCI. The Training Center Manager is a key member of the organization's administrative team that works together to support community and staff training processes in support of the mission, vision and values of RWCI.

    The Training Center Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and make a significant contribution to the vibrancy RWCI by also supporting the overall success of the organization.

    The TCM will:

    • Manage the complete operation of RWCI labs and training facilities including coordinating the opening and closing of facilities. Provide for the general safety, security and cleanliness of the lab and training center spaces.
    • Lead the training center team in working with users individually and in groups to provide direct assistance for their access to lab and training center resources.
    • Orient users to the lab and help users who are learning to use specific equipment, applications and programs.
    • Develop, maintain and enforce procedures for the use of the lab and training areas and the use of equipment, supplies, materials, software, and equipment. Develop and maintain instructions for use of specific equipment, applications, and programs.
    • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. Enforce established procedures for appropriate center use and user behavior.
    • Perform basic equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, and work with the IT department and other vendors in resolving more complex technical and maintenance issues, as they occur.
    • Oversee the work of training center support staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and managing performance.
    • Research equipment needs and order materials and supplies as necessary. Maintain and inventory equipment, software, materials, and supplies. Dispose of surplus equipment and software in accordance with established procedures.
    • Assist the RWCI Operations Manager and COO with lab / training center budget management
    • Maintain records of activities undertaken in support of the computer lab. Develop and prepare reports.
    • Create training schedules based on the needs of the community and organizational staff
    • Track and create reports on outcomes of all training and maintain training records for the organization.
    • Gather and evaluate information from residents, staff and management on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and program participants to assure all community/family training, adult education and core competencies are met.
    • Work with the CIO and Program Evaluation team, as well as other stakeholders to conduct ongoing assessments of community and family needs.
    • Ensure community partners implement research-informed programs, including pre- and post-workshop student assessments and adult education learning opportunities.
    • Align services/programs for maximum impact - assure programs are needed, conveniently delivered, and well attended, according to feedback from CIO and Life Navigators.
    • Assist with developing and implementing strategies that maximize the synergies among programs, including facilitation of a Partner Advisory Council.
    • Ensure accountability of programs and services
    • Assist with developing, monitoring, and reporting on program outputs and outcomes - minimally via a quarterly report to the CIO
    • Provide needed logistical support to program partners to ensure smooth operation of program offerings.
    • Maintain detailed records/databases on program activities.
    • With the assistance of the Marketing Team, promote the use of the labs and training center. Market organizational training opportunities to the community and coworkers, and provide information on results to encourage participation. Work with marketing to maintain web pages and other social media for computer labs.
    • Support Fund Development activities of the organization as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Background and appropriate experience in Training, Technology, Education and Facilities Management. Management experience in a small business or nonprofit organization is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups to achieve an ambitious set of goals.

    • Associates degree in business-related field. Bachelor's degree in business-related field preferred or facilities management certifications a plus
    • At least 3 years' experience in training and/or computer lab management, or similar fields
    • Expertise in computers and media equipment
    • Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods and techniques
    • Exceptional organization skills, leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to build rapport with coworkers and other stakeholder groups and to work with a team
    • Ability to analyze data
    • Experience in a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
    • Experience in a complex, entrepreneurial work environment
    • Experience successfully negotiating agreements across multiple stakeholder groups
