The Social Enterprise and Training (SEAT) Center is seeking to fill the position of Program Specialist.This position is a key position at SEAT Center that provides comprehensive academic, vocational, leadership development, and job placement program. The Program Specialist has overall responsibility for setting the tone of the day, program culture, assisting students with barrier removal, pre-emptive problem solving, and a life skills.This position contributes to the accomplishment of SEAT’s mission through developing and maintaining strong community partnerships to assist students with accessing resources (emergency food, shelter, clothing, etc), providing individual and group life skills counseling; and being an advocate for the student.

The Program Specialist demonstrates the ability to solve problems with creative solutions, takes initiative, is flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing environment, is willing and able to go the extra mile to ensure services are provided, and is on ongoing learner. The position requires occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a strong knowledge of community based services, public assistance and other community resources and have demonstrated skills in accessing these services appropriately.
• Must be able to manage positive community partnerships and represent SEAT Center effectively.
• Must have a combination of the following: associates degree (preferable in Human Services) and (5) years case management experience; or a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of (2) years case management experience.
• Knowledge of Schenectady Community highly desired.
• Must have a deep respect for the ideas, resiliency, and intelligence of young adults and a proven track record in working with young adults who have experienced multiple barriers to success.
• Must be willing and able to conduct regular home visits
• Valid NYS Drivers License; regular access/ use of a car.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
