Job Description
- The Auxiliary Services Training Specialist role will help develop and implement a robust training program based on the processes and procedures of the Auxiliary Services Department and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer at Syracuse University.
- The goal of the program is to help our diverse team continue to learn and grow in their respective roles.
- The Training Specialist will be responsible to develop, deliver and track learning and development. Content will range from small and large group in-person meetings to online guides, tutorials and videos.
- This position will report to the Director of Operations and Administration and work closely with the Auxiliary Services Safety Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, healthcare, food/culinary management preferred. 5-10 years’ experience within the food services industry, healthcare and/or higher education in a training role.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Excellent communication, organization and collaboration skills.
- Prior experience with a learning management system and delivering training to large audiences. Proven record of training development and execution.
- Must thrive in a dynamic, deadline driven work environment with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Develop material and evaluate training for various employee groups as appropriate to the assigned duties, within the scope of available resources.
- Identify opportunities in coordination with the Auxiliary Services Safety Manager to create training material and establish appropriate training programs to support departmental and division strategic initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a library of resources that address departmental needs and support various initiatives.
- Responsible to initiate development and adoptions of a learning management system to track compliance of all completed training and a library of required training by position title.
- Maintain all training records for compliance purposes. Research and recommend optimal training platforms.
- Serve as lead presenter/instructor in select topics. Recruit and evaluate vendor/guest presenters and instructors.
- Conduct trains the trainer classes for various employee groups. Where applicable, ensure instructors have appropriate qualifications/certifications.
- Collaborate with all internal campus business partners and external vendor partners to determine required training needs and optimal delivery of material.
- Coordinate with Auxiliary Services departments to maximize return on investment for all external training programs. Implement standardized timelines to meeting training plan goals.
