Translator translates written and spoken information from one language to another. Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Easterseals Florida is looking for Translators for our Early Intervention Assessment Team in West Palm Beach to serve as the communications bridge between families/caregivers with limited English proficiency and the respective team members providing services both at the center and offsite locations. The qualified candidate will accurately complete written translation of documents from English to a second language for families.

    A Snapshot of What You Will Do:

    • Greet parents and serve as liaison between parents and the program
    • Assist families with concerns prior to determining eligibility for the Early Steps program
    • Interpret spoken statements from one language to another.
    • Translate documents and rewrite material, correspondence, forms, and other written material from one language to another.
    • Perform general office duties
    • Travel to offsite locations as required for meetings with team members and families

    Qualifications:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent
    • Two years of experience in translation and interpretation of English
    • Bilingual skills - Creole/English
    • Detailed oral and written communications skills required
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database software
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional phone skills
    • Significant attention to detail, superior organizational and writing skills and the ability to work quickly and efficiently
    • Detail-oriented self-starter who can efficiently handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
    • Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive your personal vehicle, as required, to drive to meetings and for other business-related needs (minimum age of 21 and good driving history)
