Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     As a Translator at Stanislaus Oral Surgery, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between our English-speaking staff and patients who primarily speak a different language. You will provide accurate and culturally sensitive translation services to ensure effective communication during appointments, consultations, and other interactions. This role requires fluency in both English and the target language, as well as strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to patient care.

    **Responsibilities:**
    1. Provide professional translation services between English and the target language (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese) during patient appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits.
    2. Interpret spoken communication between healthcare providers, staff, and patients accurately and clearly, maintaining the intended meaning and tone.
    3. Translate written materials such as patient forms, consent forms, educational materials, and discharge instructions into the target language.
    4. Assist with scheduling appointments, confirming appointments, and communicating appointment details to patients in their preferred language.
    5. Serve as a cultural liaison between English-speaking staff and patients who may have limited English proficiency, helping to bridge language and cultural barriers.
    6. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive patient information and medical records.
    7. Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and accurate information about their treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up care.
    8. Provide assistance to non-English-speaking patients in navigating the healthcare system, accessing resources, and addressing concerns.
    9. Stay updated on medical terminology and best practices in medical interpretation and translation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in communication.
    10. Assist with other administrative tasks or duties as needed to support the operations of the oral surgery practice.

    Qualifications:
    • Fluency in English and the target language (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese) with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
    • Proven experience as a professional translator or interpreter, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to oral surgery and dentistry is desirable.
    • Certification or training in medical interpretation or translation is preferred but not required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
    • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations and sensitive conversations.
    • Excellent listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to convey complex information accurately.
    • Proficiency in using translation software or tools is a plus.
    • Flexibility to work full-time or part-time hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.
