Translator translates written and spoken information from one language to another. Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Lake County Health Department is currently recruiting for a Clerk/Translator in our Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services program (CABS). You will be a part of a dynamic team of Physicians, Counselors, and Therapists providing outpatient behavioral health services for children and their families.
Clerk/Translator Key Responsibilities- Primary responsible for Spanish interpretations for Spanish-speaking behavioral health patients.
- Translates written educational materials and other documents from English to Spanish.
- Communicates orally and in writing in both Spanish and English languages, providing interpretive and information services for Spanish-speaking patients/clients.
- Types correspondences, memoranda, forms, and statistical reports.
- Handle telephone inquiries, making appropriate referrals to specific Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD/CHC) programs or other agencies as appropriate.
- Schedules appointments for clients and provides reminder calls for Provider appointments.
- Translates for Spanish-speaking clients (in clinic, home, or community settings).
- Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Spanish Speaking to perform needed job tasks.
- Valid driver's license.
- Flexible hours, in office 3 days per week
