Translator jobs in Tulsa, OK

Navistar is currently looking for a Zomi-Burmese Translator. You will be responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another. Reproduce statements in another language for listening and/or reading audience. This position is not for interpretation, only translation. 

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 5:00 AM to 3:30PM, some overtime required.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.
• Attend conferences and meetings and act as official translator to mediate discussion.
• Relay concepts and ideas between languages.
• Convert written materials from one language into another, such as newsletter, hot news, work instructions, and other Company related forms.
• Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language.
• Receive and submit assignments electronically.
• Use dictionaries and glossaries for reference.
• Employ computer-assisted translation when needed
• Facilitate communication for people with limited English proficiency.
• Translate languages at meetings such as New Hire Orientation, Stand-up morning meetings, and SWE’s.
• Read aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.
• Adapt a product or service for use in a different language and culture.
• Typing, use of Microsoft suite
• Other clerical duties as required

• At least 1 year plant manufacturing experience
• At least 3 months quality experience

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
• Understanding of ISO principles
• Ability to walk/stand up to 10 hours per day
• This position is safety sensitive and may involve the operation of vehicles, operation of equipment, and/or involve work with power tools, or handling of hazardous materials, that could result in injury or damage to person/property/manufacturing process

• Positive attitude, ethics and International’s values which support our company’s values, and a healthy, high performance culture   
• Strong Communication skills both written and oral
• Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure
• Ability to review audits with all levels of the Assembly Team
• Computer skills including Excel and Word
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
