Transmitter Engineer installs, develops and operates all aspects of electronic equipment used to transmit radio and television programs. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Additionally, Transmitter Engineer works under immediate supervision.     With offices located in both the Upper Peninsula and in Traverse City, Michigan Broadband Services is a local provider of FTTH, internet, video, and telephony services.  We are currently seeking a full-time Engineer.


    Responsibilities:


    • Design, implement, and maintain telecommunications systems and services, including fiber deployment and distribution.
    • Develop and interpret detailed design drawings and specifications for telecommunications equipment and systems.
    • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for telecommunications projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements and develop solutions.
    • Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in telecommunications technology.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
    • Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

     

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
    • Licensed professional engineer.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering industry, with a focus on telecommunications.
    • Proven experience in fiber deployment and distribution.
    • Proficient in developing and interpreting design drawings.
    • Experience in obtaining permits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems and services.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient in using computer software and applications related to engineering and telecommunications.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
    • A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
