Transplant Nurse Coordinator provides planning and coordination of all facets of clinical care for potential and actual transplant candidates and recipients. Manages referral, evaluation, and pre-transplant data for transplant patients and coordinates the clinical management of post-transplant patients. Being a Transplant Nurse Coordinator develops materials and delivers programs to educate and support patients, families, and clinicians throughout the transplant process. Requires clinical experience in the care and treatment of transplant patients. Additionally, Transplant Nurse Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree of Nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires registered nurse (RN). May require certification from a professional organ transplant nursing certification board. The Transplant Nurse Coordinator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates the scheduling of procedures and appointments, according to the policies and procedures, to meet the needs of the patients, physicians, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance departments and members of the Renaissance Transplant Institute. Helps train staff for insurance verification and authorization of procedures along with surgery coordination for the office and prepares clinic charts with all needed information both clinical and financial prior to the patient being seen in the clinic.
