Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Transportation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary

     

    Performs a wide variety of clerical support services to facilitate the efficient operation of Pupil Transportation, while maintaining confidentiality.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    (These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans With Disabilities Act or ADA)

     

     

    • Coverage for p.m. phone and radio calls.
    • Assistance for field trip invoicing.
    • Update and Maintain files containing field trip maps, driver directions, trip information and locations.
    • Input student data via PowerSchool.
    • Communicate with Bus Drivers via two-way radio.
    • Post schedules for field trips.
    • Field parent calls to Supervisor.
    • Verify student data in PowerSchool.
    • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, computers, printers, calculators, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and telephones.
    • Communicate with customers, employees, students, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information and address complaints.

    Education: 

    This position requires high school diploma or equivalent. 

     

    Experience: 

    • No previous clerical experience required.
    • One year of related experience providing clerical support in an office setting preferred.

     

     

    Knowledge: 

    • Knowledge of basic math, required.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, required.
    • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures, required.
    • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, required.

     

    Abilities: 

    • Ability to read and interpret district policies, guidelines, handbook and government regulations, required.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, required.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, required.
    • Ability and willingness to learn different software systems, required.
    • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast paced work environment, required.
    • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with teachers, community, students and staff, required.
