Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Director of Transportation
Overview:
The Director Transportation is responsible for managing all aspects of transportation from coordination of the day-to-day transportation operations to directing major projects. This would include creating reporting, establishing metrics (KPI’s), and improving transportation management practices by supporting transportation procurement processes and creating strong operational processes and controls around the movement of inventory. Working cross functionally with other areas, most notably our internal fleet, is a requirement for success in this role.
This role requires one to be very familiar with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM Cloud). The role will need to optimize the existing systems the company has as well as identify potential other systems that the company should implement.
This role requires the ability to coordinate outbound shipment arrival with internal and external parties and to ensure data alignment across our systems and partner’s platform to drive process improvement by partnering with transportation providers and internal parties. Finally, this position plays a critical role ensuring that the operations group meets or exceeds customer needs and business objectives. No task is too big or too small if it supports driving customer satisfaction and business requirements.
