Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Plan, direct, and coordinate all the activities related to transportation operations for Civitan Services. Work in conjunction with contracting transportation agency to provide safe, cost-effective transportation to and from Civitan Services. Dispatch, route and track transportation vehicles. Make transportation changes as needed. Update transportation log/trip sheets as needed. Ensure accurate completion of all required documents; trip sheets, maintenance sheets, pre/post trip sheets. Inspect and coordinate operation and maintenance of automotive equipment and schedule needed repairs or service work accordingly. Complete and submit monthly transportation billing timely. Complete and submit Quarterly Report to Arkansas Transportation Associate. Supervise drivers, monitors, and riders to ensure they follow correct policy and procedures. Recruit, hire, train, assign and direct work of drivers and monitors. Supervise the use of gas cards and vehicle keys. Investigate transportation related complaints/concerns. Substitute as driver/monitor as needed. Identify and resolve problems timely, gather and analyze information, develop alternative solutions taking into account the safety of employees/clients, cost effectiveness, and timeliness. Develop and implement cost saving measures, contributes to profits and revenue and conserves organizational resources. Inventory and order transportation related supplies as needed.
