Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Transportation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary:

    This position is a safety-sensitive position requiring the scheduling and overall coordination of transit
    services to ensure the timely and safe transportation of all passengers. Performance of these duties must

    be conducted in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local, Department of Transportation

    system regulations and policies, including U.S. Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing

    regulations. This position requires an individual that can work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent
    customer service skills will be a requirement for this position.

    Essential Functions:

    • Answers incoming calls promptly, gathers comprehensive information, and communicates
    information to the appropriate individual using a telephone, email, or alternate methods in order

    to facilitate timely pickup and drop-off of passengers.

    • Dispatches/communicates information to drivers, as needed using a two-way radio system or
    alternate methods, as necessary, in order to facilitate the timely pick-up and drop-off of

    passengers.

    • Provides schedule/route information and directions to drivers, as necessary.
    • Communicates with drivers and other individuals, such as appropriate personnel or vehicle
    • Ability to change out fareboxes and verify fares and document correctly
