Transportation Engineer is responsible for the design and planning of transportation facilities and projects. May propose changes to existing roadways to improve the flow of traffic. Being a Transportation Engineer ensures compliance with government standards and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Transportation Engineer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Transportation Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Assists license engineers on various projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Work will entail: transportation studies, conceptual roadway geometrics, intersection operational analysis utilizing the latest available software, traffic signal design and traffic management system (TMS). Preference to those proficient in AutoCad and various transportation analysis software (ex. Synchro/Sim Traffic). Effective oral and written communication is a plus.
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
