Job Description:
This is professional civil engineering position in the Traffic Engineering section. Duties include review of highway segments to determine traffic control device needs throughout the Region to enhance safety and traffic operation needs; review of traffic related complaints ( e.g. speed limits, geometrics, signing, striping) from the public and others to address safety and operational needs; review site developments by collecting/reviewing data necessary to analyze traffic movement permit applications; serve as Traffic team member for capital improvement projects as needed; supervise access management program in the Region; participate in review of high crash locations to improve safety; Supervise Official Business Directional Signs using traffic engineering skill and judgment. Supervision is exercised over a technical and professional staff performing engineering tasks within the Region. Work is performed under limited supervision
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer plus two (2) years of work experience beyond such licensure which demonstrates the performance of significantly complex engineering science, competency in evaluating risk, and applying sound engineering judgement as it applies to planning, project development, and/or maintenance of public works structures and facilities.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
