Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provides working level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under limited supervision, manages and coordinates the activities of district sign maintenance, guardrail and pavement marking crews. Administers the agency's safety and preventive maintenance programs. Ensures the completion of reports and forms. Maintains a positive working relationship with the traveling public. Evaluates personnel performance. Provides feedback and counseling for professional growth. Oversees the sign shop warehouse operation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in a related field and Six months of related experience
· OR Associate's degree in a related field and One year of experience
· OR One year of at position equivalent.
AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Two years’ experience in the installation of road signs, pavement markings, and guardrail
· Lead worker or supervisory experience
· Experience reading, understanding and interpreting information obtained in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), parts manuals, standard plans, computer print-outs and other documents
· Experience managing projects to ensure compliance with standard specifications and designs, agency rules and regulations and safety standards
· Experience coordinating work schedules and staffing
· Experience providing leadership to inspire, motivate, and guide others toward accomplishing goals
· Experience with scheduling, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously
· Possesses physical strength and agility necessary to do the job
· Committed to providing quality customer service
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience implementing innovative strategies
· Experience in Microsoft Excel and Agile Assets
