Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This role will sit in North Dakota.

Responsibilities include:

Planning, designing, and directing engineering projects
Mentor others in the transportation market in North Dakota
Promote the reputation of the company and increase business by being widely recognized outside the company as a technical expert
Manage multiple projects simultaneously for NDDOT
Review invoicing and personnel assignments
Negotiate contracts for both prime and sub roles
Some travel will be required as needed

The successful candidate will have all of the following:

A bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering
8 years of relevant work experience
A PE license in North Dakota or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
Valid drivers license/clean MVR

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following:

NDOT experience
Rural and urban roadway design and interchanges
Designing roundabouts or diverging diamond intersections
Previous experience marketing and attracting clients to win work for the company
