Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Ebensburg location. Manage the rural bus service area, overseeing fixed route, paratransit, and Shared Ride services. Supervise and provide guidance and support to the transportation staff. Create, update, and maintain public and operator schedules. Provide leadership and support to ensure safe, secure, reliable, and on-time services. Respond to internal and external requests. Project a positive image when coordinating with external agencies. Is responsible to manage the ADA Program, as the ADA Administrator.
Preferred experience: At least 5 years of management, supervisory, customer service, and transportation experience, experience working in a union environment, and advanced knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office. Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is preferred.
