Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.
