Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. As a member of the Garage personnel, a Transportation Repairman is responsible for servicing and maintaining the Electric Boat fleet, including buses, vans, forklifts, trucks, tractor-trailers, and snow equipment etc. This person routinely troubleshoots, repairs and preventively services equipment and vehicles with diesel and gasoline engines, as well as hydraulic, electric and mechanical systems.
This person needs to be familiar with vehicle computer diagnosis, diagnostic equipment as well as automotive computer systems. Servicing the hydraulic, mechanical and electrical subsystems of electric forklifts is a major portion of the work, including battery change-out. This position supports snow/ice conditions.
Must own personal tools up to 1" in size and up to 1/2 " in drive in both standard and metric. Candidate must be familiar with DOT regulations and inspection requirements.
