Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, the incumbent, either personally or through subordinates, supervises the Transportation operation. High school diploma or GED as well as one (1) to three (3) years of related and/or supervisory experience. Must perform normal job functions while making clear and decisive decisions during heavy business demands. Must possess ability to comprehend and write correspondence and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess proven leadership skills to lead and train subordinate personnel. Must possess valid driver's license. Must be able to operate automatic and standard shift vehicle. Must be able to learn the operation of all parking equipment such as slim jim kit, jumper cables, 2-way radios, air tanks and other related equipment. Position requires prolonged periods of standing or walking. Must possess computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
