Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Purpose of Your Job Position

    The primary purpose of your job position is to coordinate the Campus transportation services. To include medical and outpatient transport, family Subacute transport and daily activity transportation.

    Delegation of Authority

    As the transportation coordinator, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

    Job Functions

    Working Conditions

    • Works in activity areas as well as the facility bus.
    • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
    • Must tolerate moderate amount of stress during holidays and when activities increase.
    • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
    • Is involved with residents, personnel, volunteers, etc. under all conditions and circumstances.
    • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, volunteers personnel, visitors, etc.
    • Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
    • Is subject to falls, infectious diseases, odors, etc., throughout the day.
    • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

    Educational Requirements

    Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must possess a current, unencumbered CDL license with passenger certification.

    Experience

    Experience with geriatric population and handicap equipment helpful. No experience necessary, will receive on-the-job training.

    • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully
    • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
    • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
    • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
    • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.

    Physical and Sensory Requirements

    (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
    • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
    • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
    • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
    • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
    • Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
    • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
    • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds
