Travel Manager
American Cruise Lines based in Guilford, CT, is looking for an experienced travel professional to manage our team of Travel Coordinators. The travel team is responsible for booking travel for our employees to get them to and from our vessels or training facilities. This includes, but not limited to, booking flights, hotels, and other means of transportation as necessary. Our employee base includes every state in the nation, therefor the ability to stay organized and attention to detail are both crucial within this role.
The ideal candidate for this role should be able to supervise a travel team that includes in-office and remote travel coordinators. The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast paced environment while ensuring that all employees are provided with seamless travel arrangements to and from our ships. Within this role you will be responsible for executing and communicating our corporate travel policy. In addition, you will be monitoring all crew travel activities, reconcile expenses, keep travel coordinators on task, and interdepartmental communications.
The Travel Manager is an onsite role which requires being in the office during normal business hours reporting to the Director of Procurement. This position offers the opportunity to be in a dynamic leadership role within a growing team!
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a high level of managerial, time management, and organizational skills.
- Supervise a travel team of 10-12 travel coordinators.
- Work with other department managers to communicate on behalf of the travel team and vice versa.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders and department heads on travel needs.
- Ensure travel is booked within company budgetary constraints.
- Contract negotiations for group travel, hotels and airlines.
- Coordinate and assign travel requests for our employees.
- Ensure all travel, hotel, and transportation details are being fulfilled timely and efficiently.
- Keep travel coordinators on task and maintaining booking assignments.
- Perform follow-ups to ensure new hires have received all necessary travel information and instructions.
- Audit team performance for optimal efficiencies.
- Ensure proper training of new hire travel coordinators.
- After hour communication is expected occasionally.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Sabre Travel, or similar GDS system.
- Proven experience overseeing a team of employees.
- Previous experience arranging travel such as hotel, flights and ground transportation.
- Experience with contract and vendor negotiations.
- Internet savvy with strong knowledge of online travel sites.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft office applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
