Additionally, Treasurer is responsible for the corporate banking, credit, and investment functions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Treasurer manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Treasurer typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.   • The State Treasurer’s Office is responsible for procuring and managing financial services and needs for all State of Maryland agencies.

    As the custodian for all of the State’s cash assets, our agency controls oversight for all State agency depository and disbursement accounts, lockbox services, merchant account services, agency working funds, trust and escrow accounts, etc.

    The Banking Services Division is responsible for the State’s cash reconciliation on a daily basis. Its primary function is the accurate and timely recordation of State funds and the reconciliation of the State’s bank accounts to the State’s internal accounting system.

    This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative banking functions within the State’s Banking Services Department.

    Tasks include researching and processing State agency requests for check services (stop payments, cancels, recovers, reissues and check copies), coordinating replacement checks for payroll direct deposit failures, entering stop payments on the disbursement bank’s on-line system, setting up new vendor records for ACH payments, and processing various other transactions into the Treasurer’s and the State’s financial systems.

    The incumbent provides primary coverage on the Banking Services main phone line and is part of a rotational team that provides back-up coverage to the Treasurer’s Office main phone line.

    This is a full-time contractual position with a set work schedule for a 6-month period. The contract may be renewed at the end of the 6-month period.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required) :

    Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

    Experience : One year of experience in performing secretarial or clerical work in an office environment.

    SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS : One of the required years of experience must be in a financial or bank setting.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (additional consideration will be given to candidates possessing the following) :

    • Commercial Banking customer service liaison experience
    • Data entry skills and ability to quickly learn company software
    • Oral and written communication skills with various audience levels
    • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
    • Prior State of Maryland experience

    EXAMINATION : The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position.

    LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION : Applicants must be willing to work onsite in the Annapolis area.
