Truck Driver - Heavy operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Heavy conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Heavy coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Heavy works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Locally owned and operated in Whatcom County, Cowden Brothers Trucking specializes in trucking needs. Our Trucking Division employs Heavy Haul Truck drivers who can operate Mack automatic tractors with 53' 4 axle heavy-haul trailers. We are looking for drivers interested in our Cement Clinker haul specifically, but you will have the opportunity to grow into other hauls that involve refuse.
These drivers complete 3-4 loads daily, hauling two belly dump trailers of Cement Clinker material from a Cement plant in Delta, BC to a production facility in Bellingham. Drivers dispatch from Bellingham daily, between 3-6am, and usually return between 12-4pm. Weekly hours are 40-60, and overtime is paid after 40. We have openings coming available soon and interviews will be ongoing until our positions are filled.

Top candidates for employment will be safe and courteous, skilled, dependable, enthusiastic, and willing to follow directions. While each route requires different demands, we expect all our drivers to be physically capable of lifting 45 lbs., climbing fixed-ladders, tarping live loads, performing vehicle inspections, and handling adverse weather conditions.
