Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Light coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class B. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Light works under moderate supervision. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.Operate a truck having a factory-rated capacity of less than 1-1/2 tons as a major work assignment in transporting a variety of cargo and perform operational maintenance; may perform manual work tasks in connection with general construction and maintenance work; be able to transport personnel equipment, supplies, and materials to and from various work sites; and perform other related duties as assigned. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization To Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Experience: ONE (1) YEAR of work experience operating and maintaining motorized vehicles (i.e., a truck having a factory-related capacity of less than 1-1/2 tons or a passenger vehicle such as a sedan or station wagon); or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Knowledge of: Methods of operating motorized vehicles representative of the Light Truck Driver class of work; laws, ordinances, rules and regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles on streets and highways; general maintenance needs of motor vehicles; and hazards and safety precautions applicable to the operation of motor vehicles representative of the Light Truck Driver class of work.
Ability to: Operate motor vehicle(s) representative of the Light Truck Driver class of work skillfully and safely; understand and observe traffic laws and rules; observe mechanical defects and take steps to have such defects corrected; make minor emergency repairs; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform lifting, carrying or other manual work typical of the Light Truck Driver class of work.
