Truck Driver - Tractor Trailer operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Tractor Trailer conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Tractor Trailer coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Tractor Trailer independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for transporting parts, components, and equipment to and from customer, vendor, and company locations and job sites.
Truck Drivers must be able to perform independently under limited supervision. Examples of the types of machinery that the Driver will transport include earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and allied products.
Drivers will also transport palletized loads, hydraulic cylinders, final driver, undercarriage components and tracks, and other items associated with our business.
Tractor Trailer Drivers must be able to safely operate and load all types of equipment and safely operate a lift truck in the loading and unloading of cargo.
The person in this role will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.
The Tractor Trailer Driver will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.
Essential Job Functions
- Basic safe machine operation & inspection
- Conduct and document daily vehicle inspections
- Maintain truck and driving log according to DOT Regulations
- Adhere to DOT and Company safety regulations and procedures
- Load and unload truck cargo
- Properly secure truck cargo for transport
- Ensure proper documentation for cargo including MSDS for hazardous materials
- Follow 5-Star Contamination Control procedures
- Maintain clean, neat, and orderly truck
- Keep accurate records of all work
