- Trust Advisor- $67,725- $99,289 a year

About the Trust Advisor’s Role:
The primary role of the Trust Advisor is to develop, administer, and retain trust, investment agency, retirement, estate and guardianship and farm accounts. The Trust Advisor is the subject matter expert in specialized accounts (trust, estates, retirement, guardianships, farms), and provides expert knowledge as a part of a team of financial experts. Responsibilities include managing accounts to general trust policies, risk management, meeting distribution and regulatory requirements and maintaining sufficiency of documentation for each client relationship.
Key Responsibilities:
Expert Responsibilities
- Be the DS Baker go-to person to provide expert, world class advice regarding specialized account administration, management and strategy.
- Identify legacy plan prospects from DS Baker’s existing books of business.
- Proactively seek out new client relationships by making prospect and client retention calls and/or by teaming with Family Advisors to increase existing revenue, cement relationships, build new revenue, and obtain appropriate referrals.
- Manage trust accounts according to fiduciary principles and bank policies. Maintains a high level of fiduciary and investment knowledge and provides appropriate advice, counseling and solutions to client inquiries on trust, investment, retirement, estate and financial planning issues.
Development Responsibilities:
- Actively prospect and participate in client retention calls and efforts to increase existing revenue, cement the relationship, build new revenue, and obtain appropriate referrals.
- Build solid, lasting relationships with clients through uncovering the emotional side of the relationship. This could include how clients view their wealth, their children, if they plan to involve family in their business, how they are planning for retirement, sale of the business, philanthropy ideas, etc.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with team members and other “centers of Influence.”
- Meet with clients quarterly and/or annually, or as needed.
- Maintain the required continuing education credits necessary for their position.
- Participate in community activities for business development and for a healthier community.
- Lead and/or participate in community education, such as estate planning seminars.
- Work closely with investment advisors to maintain proper investment balance for client needs.
Team Responsibilities:
- Business development: Meet or exceed annual sales and retention goals as established by management.
- Embraces the team advisory approach. Is proactive to build and maintain positive relationships internally and cross-departmentally.
- Team with a family advisor in the early stages of their prospecting efforts.
- Promote team calling activity, build trust amongst team members, and timely document all client activity and contact.
- Attend pre-planning and strategy meetings with the DS Baker advisors and their support staff to begin the process of identifying cross sale opportunities.
- Educate other team members by involving them in their business client meetings.
- Proactively seek out information, resources, and expertise of internal and external subject matter experts, based on client needs.
- Assure all team members are fully informed of all client interactions by documenting all client interactions and data using the customer relationship management software and processes available.
- Work closely with investment advisor to maintain proper investment balance for client needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a degree in finance, accounting, business, law or related field. Two years experience in the financial industry required. Five-plus years experience in the financial industry preferred. Experience and expertise to include knowledge in one or more areas of trust administration or asset management. Strong understanding of taxation and effects of taxes to trusts. Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to do the job. CFP or CTFA designations preferred.
