Accounting Loan Operations Analyst

  • This role is pivotal to our bank's operations, as it involves maintaining accurate loan accounting records, supporting financial reporting activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Accounting Loan Operations Analyst will report directly to the Assistant Controller and collaborate closely with the Loan Operations business unit.


    The responsibilities of this role include:

    • Oversee loan accounting processes to ensure consistent application of accounting principles and accurate reporting of net interest margin.
    • Monitor loan transactions across various internal systems and external sources, including general ledger accounts and loan servicing systems.
    • Assist in maintaining data integrity for loan reports to support accurate and reliable financial information.
    • Support the establishment and maintenance of internal controls related to loan accounting processes to mitigate risks of errors or fraud
    • Provide assistance to the loan operations team by addressing accounting-related inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and offering support as needed
    • Identify opportunities to streamline loan accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve controls to optimize operations.
    • Ensure compliance of loan accounting practices with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
    • Potential involvement in other accounting areas on an ad-hoc basis.

    The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
    • 2-3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably with exposure to financial reporting, banking, or loan operations
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations, with the ability to apply them effectively
    • Proficiency in financial systems and software, with experience in loan accounting systems being advantageous
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in loan accounting processes
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to changing regulatory requirements and industry standards
