    Job Summary:

    As a member of the Skagit Radiology Inc (SRI) senior leadership team, the Quality Officer (QO) is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and operational management of the quality and safety programs of SRI. The QO will have accountability for understanding, coordinating, and measuring performance of internal and external quality and safety requirements and will provide leadership in strengthening a quality culture where everyone is engaged and respected. The Quality Officer will serve in a highly visible leadership role, working collaboratively across the enterprise and externally to provide an overview of the SRI quality program and our partner hospitals. 

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement the foundational strategy and change management that is necessary as SRI balances growth and sustainability with the highest level of quality, safety and service, ultimately reducing variation in patient care. 
    • Direct and implement evidence-based programs, practices and activities that realize continuous improvements in clinical quality, patient safety, productivity, and customer service initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively across the enterprise and externally to enhance our care quality and safety so SRI can deliver on its promise of caring for our patients, their loved ones, and each other.
    • Strengthen and reinforce a culture of quality, safety, and value across SRI.
    • Create an environment that fosters innovation and performance, supporting the implementation of programs that continuously advance clinical outcomes and patient experience. Actively implement innovative ideas to redefine, measure and improve quality.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for SRI related to quality issues with appropriate local and national organizations; effectively communicates with the public to improve clinical excellence.
    • Serve as a change agent to strengthen a culture of quality, safety, and value throughout the organization. Establish a 3-5 year strategic plan for quality and safety that aligns with the existing SRI strategic plan and delineates clear goals and metrics for enhancing and sustaining the highest quality and safety performance.
    • Enhance SRI’s reputation while serving as a primary interface to the Patient Safety Quality Committee of SRI partner hospitals and SRI Board of Directors.
    • Measures of quality, safety and value are critical factors in our organization's identity, reputation, and reimbursement. The QO must propel improvements in measures of quality, safety and value. The QO will do this by enabling stronger performance through improving approaches based on calculated risks and benefits; benchmarking SRI’s performance against other leading radiology practices and integrated delivery systems; proactively seeking to improve processes and implement best-in- class solutions, raising quality and productivity in a thoughtful way; and identifying new systems and processes to improve quality and make healthcare delivery more efficient.
    • Maintain quality records, imaging quality programs and perform quality audits as necessary. 
    • Utilize AIDET principles effectively when communicating with staff and patients.
    • Fulfill other assigned duties as necessary.



    Requirements

    Education & Experience:

    • Board-Certified Radiologist with recent Radiological practice and Quality Management experience (M.D.) required. 
    • Progressive leadership experience with emphasis on leading quality programs within a medical center/practice or integrated delivery system, including quality committee experience.
    • Experience with hospital CPE/Peer Review process and procedures.
    • Quality Certifications in Six Sigma, CPHQ, American College of Radiology RLI or Institute for Healthcare Improvement are preferred.  
    • Proven experience in establishing strategic priorities and building the infrastructure to implement large-scale initiatives and behavioral change across the enterprise. Experience utilizing the approaches and methods of process improvement as evidenced by achieving desired outcomes.
    • Licensed or eligible for license to practice medicine in Washington and/or Alaska strongly preferred.
    • Ability to provide limited support for clinical readings preferred. 

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong leadership and initiative with minimal guidance.
    • Proficient in identifying key business issues and driving effective action plans.
    • Ability to influence senior leadership and manage multiple initiatives efficiently.
    • Adaptable to changing environments and adept at prioritizing tasks.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; intermediate skills in Word and Outlook.
    • Successful track record in leading process improvement projects.
    • Skilled in building relationships and collaborating across teams.
    • Attentive listener with clear and effective communication.
    • Self-motivated with a commitment to follow-through.
    • Proficient in report generation and learning new software.
    • Capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels tactfully.
    • Open to incorporating new methods and maintaining confidentiality.
    • Reliable team player capable of managing challenging interactions.
    • May require local travel between clinics.
