General Summary/Purpose
The Retail Operations and Core Systems Administrator serves as the primary bank expert on the design and functionality of our Core Banking platform. They are responsible for implementing and supporting the Core Banking platform across the organization. They work with all departments to understand needs, centralize all enhancement requests submitted by the bank, and regularly report back on progress. They take ownership of submitting requests related to changes or service disruptions, and ensure timely resolution is provided by our Core Banking provider.
The Core Banking BSA reviews monthly invoices related to core banking services to identify any billing errors, ensure supplemental services are optimized, and make recommendations for review of existing services that are not supporting business objectives. They participate in regular monthly meetings with our core provider, and work closely with bank leaders designated to manage the core relationship.
They provide training to all new hires on basic functionality within the core platform, and ongoing training based on business line or individual need.
The Core Banking BSA will participate in projects related to core banking services and may be asked to lead certain projects.
Qualifications
Key Duties and Responsibilities
#1 Retail Operational Soundness Percentage of time: 50%
- Provides regular updates to Retail employees on operational changes or areas of focus.
- Completes quarterly Wellness Visits at each branch location, providing feedback to retail leadership and ensuring any action items are completed in advance of deadlines.
- Manages the surprise audit process to ensure cash controls are adhered to.
- Manages Retention schedule and ensures compliance by all retail branches.
- Performs hands-on fixes including configuring systems and applications in accordance with organization’s need and third-party vendors. Tests, fixes, and performs post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved. Adheres to company standards for Change Management.
# 2 Primary Liaison between Bank and Core Provider Percentage of time: 20%
- Proactively communicates any Core Banking updates that might impact daily operations across appropriate departments.
- Centralizes all enhancements requests and tracks progress towards execution. Maintains database of all enhancement requests submitted by the bank, and reports status updates on a regular basis.
- Submits any tickets related to service disruptions and maintains an internal database to provide insight on service disruptions to Executive Leadership monthly. (Tickets submitted, resolution time, area(s) of impact.)
- Reviews monthly Core Banking invoice to identify billing errors, underutilized services, or needed modifications to existing services.
#3 Process Improvement and Policy Review Percentage of time: 20%
- Evaluates business processes, anticipates requirements, uncovers areas for improvement, and develops and implements solutions to better utilize the Core Banking platform.
- Communicates insights and plans to business unit leaders and team members.
- Manages central resource guide for Retail Operations that houses policy, procedure, and any additional resources relevant to retail banking.
#4 Vendor Management Percentage of time: 10%
- Serves as primary contact for bank’s check ordering platform (currently Vericast). Reviews and approves weekly invoices, identifies variances across line of business fee waivers, actively works to reduce expenses and drive NII revenue.
- Ensures all branch equipment is functioning and communicates recommendations for replacement.
- May be assigned additional third-party vendor management responsibilities based on need.
