Applicants must:

• Be at least 21 years old and of superior moral character;
• Be a citizen of the United States of America;
• Hold a valid driver’s license;
• Candidates must not have been convicted of any felony, class A or B misdemeanor, domestic violence crimes, or any act which would constitute perjury or false statement;
• A four-year college degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or related field preferred.

Candidates must:

• successfully complete the Cooper physical agility test*;
• pass written tests and multiple interviews*; and
• pass a thorough background investigation that will include a polygraph examination, a psychological interview, and a comprehensive medical examination including drug screening.
• All candidates will be asked to complete a written test and the Cooper physical agility test, even if they have a current CHIP card. In order to participate in the physical agility test, all candidates must provide a completed Medical Approval Form signed by a certified physician (see below along with Physical Agility Standards).

Successfully hired candidates shall refrain from smoking at any time as a condition of employment.
