Tumor Registrar identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients using tumor registry systems and software. Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. THIS IS A LONG TERM SUB POSITION that is expected to start on 2/13/24 and end on 5/13/24. Please note, all substitute teachers are hired as per diem subs, even when placed in long term assignments. All substitutes begin at the per diem rate of pay.
The Registrar is responsible for registering, discharging, and scheduling students and maintaining all student records. He/she will ensure that all students attending the school are appropriately enrolled and assigned and that complete and accurate records of assignment, achievement, and attendance exist for all students.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily attendance of students.
- Assists in implementing the new computerized attendance system from teacher scanner sheets.
- Responsible for intake procedures for all students.
- Responsible for the development of the master schedule and all programming.
- Maintains all student records and related communication.
- Develops computer procedures and reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Headmaster
Qualifications Required
- Education: Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience in scheduling staff and students.
- MA DESE Secondary Teacher License at the appropriate grade level.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to develop computer reports.
- Ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Have knowledge of Nordex and other scheduling software.
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualification-Preferred
- Masters Degree.
- Experience in an urban school setting.

Terms:
The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
