General Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Pastor, the Office Administrator shall provide leadership to the church concentrating on managing the office, policies, procedures, and personnel, with Church of the Apostles UCC. The primary goal of this position will be to create and organize the systems needed to support the congregation in documented form, supervise the employees, and maintain employment records. This is a Full-Time, benefit eligible position based at our Lancaster County location.
Summary of Responsibilities:
1. Review and propose new policies needed to maintain best practices with the congregation.
2. Create, organize and maintain procedures for systems that support the work of the congregation.
3. Provide staff support to employees and maintain all employment files.
4. Initiate and lead in staff reviews with input from Sr. Pastor and other applicable church leaders.
5. Provide staff support to the Office Volunteers to ensure they have tasks to be done and have the training to accomplish them. Oversee general functioning of the office and make changes for efficiency and productivity.
6. Monitor and maintain the Safe Church policy with all background checks and trainings being kept up-to-date.
7. Maintain and monitor the guest-to-member system for inviting membership.
Qualifications:
1. Personal experience with Christian forms of worship and congregational life is needed.
2. Experience with administrative systems and personnel management is required.
3. Demonstrated ability to deal with practical present matters and change procedures toward growth.
4. Proficient with technology, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
6. Commitment to inclusive practices and a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse congregation.
7. Comfortable with indirect success and value working as a team member.
8. Display loyalty to the polity, history and traditions of the United Church of Christ.
9. Must be emotionally mature and self-differentiated, with a faith history.
10. Must be able to pass child abuse history clearances in accordance with our Safe Church policy.
11. May not be a member of Church of the Apostles.
