HPC Linux Systems Administrator (TS/SCI clearance)

  • Strategic Business Systems currently seeking highly qualified, experienced, and motivated candidates for a  High Performance Computing Systems Administrator specializing in Linux.  The individual will joining an existing team to provide System Admin support for our Federal Government customer in the Monterey, CA area.
     
    As the HPC Systems Administrator, you will use your knowledge and expertise to support the customer’s software needs and to maintain the operational stability and performance of the customer solution and its integration into the existing customer computing infrastructure.
    A current active Top Secret clearance is needed to be qualified for this role.

    Primary Responsibilities
    In this role you will:
    • HPE Performance Cluster Manager (HPCM) and Parallel File Storage System (PFSS) system administration
      • Responsible for the normal day-to-day administrative operation and maintenance of the HPE provided systems.
      • Provide on-going performance analysis, performance tuning for Customer’s implemented environment and recommendations for future architectures.
      • Escalate issues and problems to HPE Support and/or Engineering as necessary.
      • Deploying and maintaining high performance communications fabrics
      • Assist with the identification, troubleshooting, and repair of software problems impacting performance of implemented solution.
      • Assist with the Installation of Customer’s designated and properly licensed software patches and upgrade software/firmware as mutually agreed.
      • Assist with the resolution of software trouble tickets and software problems identified by Customer’s Systems and users.
      • Resources shall intercede on Customer's behalf if any hardware or software malfunctions or misbehaves and interact with service personnel when repairs are necessary.
      • Respond to Customer’s designated software trouble tickets and software problems identified by Customer’s designated system administrators and users.
      • Both parties agree and acknowledge that this SOW does not include the provision of Deliverables.
      • Work with Customer on identifying and implementing additional service functionality on Customer’s environment.
     
    Qualifications
    • TS/SCI clearance required
    • Security certification preferred
    • Linux certification preferred
     

    Education and Experience Required
    • Minimum Vocational/Diploma/ Associate Degree (technical field) with 3-5 years of working experience in related fields or Degree holder with 2-4 years relevant working experience.3-5 years work experience in hardware repair and/or system administration
    • Highly developed Linux system admin skills a must.
    • Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to implement and scope multiple deliverables across several technologies. Mostly High-Performance clusters and storage solutions.
    • Cluster manager solutions knowledge, install and use plus, deep breadth of knowledge in Linux sys admin skills.
    • Able to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently and demonstrate the professionalism of the job.
    • Ability to work in a multi- technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause. In addition to troubleshooting skills and consulting skills, has ability to summarize prognosis and impact at practice lead level. Ability to adapt a consulting style appropriate to the situation and can identify up-sell opportunities.

    The Estimated salary range for this role would be $125000-$185000.  Ranges can vary based on years of expertise in the technologies listed.
