UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     We aim to protect humans and property from autonomous and remotely piloted, uncrewed systems (UxS) threats. 



    What You'll Do


    HPA, the leader in powering solutions for military and commercial anti-UAS programs, is currently in search of a highly motivated and security-minded Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in Boise. In this role, you will take charge of administering and architecting our vital enterprise systems, including multiple Microsoft 365 GCC High tenants, Microsoft Azure, GitLab instances, and more.


    We are looking for a skilled individual with a strong background in Red Hat Enterprise/Rocky and Ubuntu Linux, as this expertise will be critical in providing support to our anti-UAS platforms and Field Services teams. Your responsibilities will encompass system rebuilds, network configurations, technology integrations, and providing expert recommendations and insight across multiple teams.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    • Administration and Architecture: Take ownership of administering and architecting mission critical enterprise systems, ensuring their optimal security, reliability, and performance. This includes Microsoft365 GCC High, GitLab, and other essential platforms.
    • Linux Administration and Support: Utilize a strong background in Red Hat Enterprise/Rocky, and Ubuntu Linux to provide comprehensive support to anti-UAS platforms and Field Services teams. This will generally involve system rebuilds, configurations, and technology integrations specific to these Linux distributions.
    • Security Focus: Maintain a strong but balanced approach to security, implementing best practices and protocols to safeguard enterprise systems and data against potential threats. Stay abreast of the latest security trends and technologies to proactively address vulnerabilities.
    • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and advancement within the organization by leveraging advanced industry knowledge to enhance system capabilities and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions accordingly.
    • Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides, to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure continuity in system operations. Provide training and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
    • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and security protocols, such as NIST 800-171, CMMC 2.0, and more. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Required Skills & Abilities
    • Highly proficient with Red Hat Enterprise/Rocky Linux, and Ubuntu Linux.
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft365 and Microsoft Azure administration, including management of virtual machines, server deployments, and configuration of Intune policies.
    • Highly proficient in secure network configuration best practices, experience with SIPR and NIPR networks a plus.
    • Proficient in the administration of self-hosted GitLab instances, with experience in DevSecOps and Agile a plus.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
    • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation and obtain a security clearance if required.


    Education & Experience
    • High school diploma, or equivalent.
    • Unfortunately, this is not an entry level role – at least five years of dedicated Systems Administrator experience in a multi-OS environment (Windows and Linux) is required.
    • Experience with Microsoft365 and Microsoft Azure within a GCC High environment is required.
    • Experience with the configuration and administration of systems leveraging Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Rock Linux, and Ubuntu Linux is required.
    • DevSecOps experience highly preferred.
    • Experience working within the Defense Industrial Base preferred.
    • Current IT and Information Security certifications preferred (i.e., RHCA, CCNA, CISSP, Azure Security Engineer, etc.). 


    Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. 


    Other Requirements
    • It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.

    Travel Requirements
