UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Position Overview:
    Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced UNIX Senior Systems Administrator to work with one of our largest Federal agencies.  This role would develop and document standards and guides for the implementation of IA solutions including but not limited to, compliance, system security design, security testing and IA assessments.

    Roles And Responsibilities:
    • Provide and administer UNIX and Linux NIPRnet and SIPRnet Operating Systems to ensure effective day-to-day operations and resolve issues as they occur.
    • Perform assessment, implementations, integration, configuration, device policy, event analysis, training, documentation and provide subject matter expert support to Government in accomplishing the same.
    • Perform implementation of required software to meet IA controls working with the DLA CERT and support Technology Foundation Services architecture throughout the lifecycle. 
    • Support Disaster Recovery and COOP on mission critical systems.
    • Install and maintain COTS products including but not limited to: McAfee, HBSS, TripWire, ArcSight, and others.
    • Remotely provide systems management and technical troubleshooting for UNIX SIPRnet/NIPRnet systems.
    • Perform customer support functions. Review, coordinate, and recommend IA standards and protocols.
    • Perform analysis and validate and recommend security requirements including RMF.
    • Recommend, for detected vulnerabilities that could preclude accreditation, management, operational, or technical controls to include human procedures, software configuration parameters, system changes, or combinations thereof to mitigate the risk associated with the vulnerability.

    Qualifications:
    • Seven (7) years UNIX Administration experience, two of which in specialized information processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/software solutions.
    • Three years concentrated hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving software issues.
    • Must posses a active Secret personnel security clearance in good standing with eligibility for IT-I privileged access. Requires a current T5 (SSBI/SBPR) level background investigation.
    • IAT-II required 
    • Obtaining and maintaining an active Security CE (8570)
    • Computing Environment Certification, one or more of the following: SCSA (Solaris), HPCSA (HPUX), RHCSA (Red Hat), Linux   (Generic Linux)

    Additional Skills:
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Must be able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Identifies potential problems and solutions through analysis identifying recommended solutions.
