UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     The Systems Administrator is responsible for the ongoing management of critical information, systems, and assets. Building solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy.

    As a Systems Administrator, you will:

    • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
    • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
    • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.
    • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
    • Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
    • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups.
    • Aid in maintaining several server technologies including, but not limited to, Exchange, Skype, SQL, Active Directory, ADFS, SCCM, and SharePoint
    • Aid in maintaining current virtual infrastructure.
    • Uphold Nicolet’s philosophy and policies by maintaining appropriate controls to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby fulfilling legal responsibilities and enhancing the quality of Nicolet.

    • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications:

    • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, office, and IBM compatible PC. 
    • Ability to effectively explain and problem-solve with customers over the phone and in person. 
    • Ability to comprehend and balance essential non-IT banking functions within the structure of IT departmental best practices. 
    • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills. 
    • Self-motivated and resourceful with strong research skills. 
    • Ability to travel to different locations. 
    • Some overnight travel may be required.
    • Technical Degree / bachelor’s degree in technology or related field 
    • 3-5 years of IT experience
