UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Join our Global Technology  team within Flow Equipment  division in United States as Senior Systems Administrator to help us take our organization to the next level. 

     

    In this role you will be accountable for:

    • Utilizing the Demand Management process; prepares cost justifications, planning, scheduling & budgeting for major systems projects; securing necessary approvals prior to implementation. 
    • Coordinates with Global Procurement to identify, evaluate, and select outside vendors, consultants, and programmers, as necessary for project management. Negotiates contracts or other arrangements, in accordance with Sulzer’s approval process, to facilitate outside vendor usage. Monitors performance of outside vendors and contractors.
    • Plans, develops, and manages the implementation of policies, systems, and programs to guide Information Technology functions and activities.
    • Responsible for telephone systems including Cell phones, VOIP, PRI, POTS, SIP, voice gateways, digital & analog systems.
    • Responsible for system backups, disaster recovery plans, hardware/software inventories, software legalization, continued use of anti-virus software, and implementation of IT policies and security directives.
    • Works with Service Now, resolves and closes IT Help Desk tickets.  Responsible for accurately recording problems and resolving them or dispatching to appropriate IT resources.
    • Manages Internet services, WAN service, local area network, and wireless networks.
    • In some locations may have oversight of building alarms, building access control, building video monitoring, and office building power systems including backup generators.
    • Manages local physical and virtual servers including installation/migrations/backups/software/hardware and upholding Sulzer policies.
    • Responsible for managing backend storage systems and solutions
    • Coordinates with other Regional/Global Sulzer IT teams for problem solving, analysis and deployment.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality when presented with sensitive information.
    • Ability to work from home with adequate bandwidth and latency to support remote users with RDP and voice. Similar productivity as when onsite is required.

     

     

     Education and Experience:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or seven years relevant IT experience.
    • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the Information Technology field with heavy emphasis on Windows server systems and features

     

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and procedures. Heavy emphasis on Windows Server OSes, Hyper-V and storage solutions
    • Strong networking skills
    • Analytical ability and resourcefulness, as required in developing and implementing progressive and efficient IT policies, programs standards and procedures.
    • Capability for IT project management
    • Ability to listen to others and understand their views and to explain complex ideas in non-technical terms.
    • Oral communication skills, as required in interacting effectively with users in all levels of personnel.
    • Written communication skills, as required in preparing concise, understandable business reports and end-user communication
    • Good intercultural skills with an ability to adapt to and understand different worldwide cultures.
