UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Description: Due to continued growth we are currently seeking to add a Sr. Systems Administrator to our team! Sr. System Administrators at Charles IT primarily serve as the top tier of technical escalations and are the architects of custom client projects, while performing the job functions below.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Design, implement and support cloud infrastructure
- Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues for end users
- Support of Microsoft-related technologies: Windows Server, Office 365/Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.
- Support of virtual environments including VMware and Hyper-V
- Support backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Configure, install, and support various network devices and services, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, & security
- Liaise with third-party vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Effectively communicate with customers on ticket progress, impending changes, or agreed outages, etc.
- Maintain strong client system documentation to include system reviews and recommendations
- Maintain daily documentation by entering time, expenses, and all work as service tickets in ConnectWise
