UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.   • Overview

    Use your technical knowledge and customer service skills to support the delivery of Esri training events and maintain classroom hardware and technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with the setup, implementation, and maintenance of classroom images for Esri Training
    • Solve complex and challenging problems, including classroom and course development VM issues
    • Maintain Esri Mobile Labs by scheduling Labs in an efficient and cost-effective manner and performing route maintenance on Labs, including hardware refreshes
    • Contribute to the development of course materials and other educational tools by acting as a Systems Advocate on course projects and being a resource to project teams
    • Provide customer support during class event planning and delivery to ensure a successful learning experience
    • Participate in the development of scope, specifications, and needs for classroom system projects; perform hardware research, testing, and installation as necessary
    • Create and provide DVD installers for course materials in a timely manner
    • Maintain Esri Training Services servers, hardware, and other classroom systems at Esri Training facilities across the United States
    • Serve as a resource to Training Services staff for questions regarding Esri software licensing and scripts on virtual machines
    • Support the Technical Leads by writing scripts, proposing process improvements, maintaining cloud VM expertise, and maintaining Esri software licensing and scripts on classroom virtual machines
    • Develop strong and collaborative relationships with the Instructor, Content Development, Delivery Support, and Training Sales teams

    Requirements

    • 5 years of experience in systems administration, network administration, and multiple operating systems, web conferencing platforms, virtual machine configurations, and audio technologies
    • 5 years of experience with cloud computing and hosted solutions
    • Proven experience with task automation scripting using Python, Batch, VB Script, or Windows-based scripting
    • Ability to learn new concepts quickly, retain large amounts of information, and adapt to a changing work environment
    • Excellent customer service, analytical/problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to learn new technologies and software applications
    • Bachelor's in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or related field

    Recommended Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Esri's product line and/or training curriculum
    • Knowledge of web application administration (IIS, Apache, Tomcat, XML)
    • Knowledge of streaming technologies (Server, Encoder, Player)
    • Master's in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or related field

    $68,640$110,240 USD
