UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     About the Role:

    The System Administrator provides support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution. This position is responsible for the oversight of the daily systems, networks needs and day to day I.T. operations of the Bank. Some of these tasks are verifying hard backup jobs, desktop, laptop, mobile devices support, configurations of workstations, user maintenance, security log analysis and systems monitoring. May require B. S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

    Primary Roles and Responsibilities of the Systems Administrator will be:

    • Provide onsite and phone-based technical support to remote users
    • Document administrative procedures and configurations
    • Support windows-based desktops-laptops and server software and hardware
    • Work independently or as a member of a team on moderately complex tasks 
    • Investigate¬-Research, resolve and explain system issues to both technical and non-technical people 
    • Support LAN/WAN networking technologies 
    • Support Microsoft network administration duties, including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS
    • Responsible for all aspects of the Bank’s workstations and laptops (configurations, patching, programming-scripting )
    • Responsible for all aspects of the Bank’s smart phones and mobile devices
    • Responsible for supporting and acting as technical support-trainer for 87 employees 
    • Utilize check lists for base installation and deployments of Bank’s workstations
    • Maintain check lists for each department and what applications needs to be installed 
    • Maintain check lists for backing up user’s information when migrating or replacing their production workstations. 
    • Responsible for all printers, faxes, copiers, validators, and scanners. 
    • Responsible for assuring all Bank’s ATM’s up time is 100%
    • Responsible for the Bank’s phone systems. 
    • Provide technical support as directed for implementation and integration of new products and applications.

    Requirements

    Preferred Education:

    • B. S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 

    Preferred Prior Experience:

    • 3-5 years

    Travel

    • You will be required travel to branches when needed. Branch locations include Cupertino, Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Watsonville, Monterey and Salinas. 


    Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

    • Must be a highly organized, detail oriented and motivated self-starter
    • B.S/B.A. in network administration-system administration or four plus years experience required
    • Excellent and well founded, written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential
    • Must demonstrate team-oriented mindset with ability to encourage and motivate co-workers
    • Must have had working experience in technical support of a Windows-based computer network
    • Must understand basic TCP/IP networking knowledge.
    • Must understand the 7 layers of the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model

      • Physical Layer 
    • Proven track record of ability to install, patch and troubleshoot Windows operating systems is required
    • Requires a demonstrated competency in technical problem solving with previous experience providing phone-based technical support
    • Support Chief Information Officer in day to day operations.
    • Keep Manager informed of daily activities
    • Ability to travel from one location to another as required.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Ability to work with multiple departments and prioritize projects and business units needs. 

    Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

    • User-facing technical support background a plus.
    • Experience supporting multi-tier applications with appropriate networking and systems
    • Experience gathering and analyzing application and system performance
    • Knowledge of wireless infrastructure systems preferred
    • Experience with automated software deployment technologies is preferred. (WSUS, GFI      Network Security Scanner)
    • Experience with mobile computing, handheld technology is highly preferred.
    • Experience with remote administration tools desired
    • Experience with firewalls

    • Experience with Dell servers and workstations
    • Experience with Unitrends 
    • Experience with Axeda (Opteview)
