Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Position Summary:
Under the normal supervision of the Imaging Department manager performs a wide variety of non-invasive imaging procedures applicable to all age groups. These include general and OB ultrasonography, vascular procedures, stress testing and echocardiography for both inpatients and outpatients (pediatric through geriatric). Serves as the technical director for echocardiogram quality and technical issues.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of a cardiac sonography training program required.
Accredited Cardiac Sonography Program preferred.
Experience:
Internship experience in performing diagnostic echocardiography required.
Technical experience performing all procedures offered by Miners Medical Center preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
Technologists must meet ARDMS or CCI criteria for Registry Eligible required.
RDCS, RCS, or acceptable alternative by IAC Echocardiography standards preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to meet patient age-specific and emotional needs.
Ability to perform multiple tasks yet meet deadlines.
Ability to professionally communicate with patients, physicians, and fellow employees.
