Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Schuyler Hospital is looking for a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist. The candidate will be responsible for Producing high quality ultrasound images in accordance with New York State Department of Health, Federal Department of Health and Human Services guidelines and regulations. Performing specialized US procedures including US guided biopsies, FNA's, and joint injections. Utilizing PACS to store images, utilizes RIS and HIS to process patient information. Performing exams in other imaging modalities as qualified and required. Providing radiation protection and safety to patients, hospital staff and medical staff. Assisting with quality control/quality assurance and minor maintenance of imaging equipment. Providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff with an emphasis on quality service and excellent patient care. Shall be oriented in the appropriate care handling of patients from all age groups: assists with radiology department office procedures: performs on-call duties as required. Employee is self-motivated and demonstrates ability to work as a team.
