Ultrasound Technologist jobs in Laredo, TX

Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be an Ultrasound Technologist typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Job Summary:

    Responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision. Possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment.Must be able to be ON CALL when required of him/her.


    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:

    1. Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology; associate's degree preferred.
    1. A minimum of two to three years of experience in an acute care environment is required.

    Licensure:

    1. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or registry eligible.
    1. BLS Required

    Skills:

    1. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
    2. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas.
