Merchandising Associate

Salt Life is seeking a Merchandising Associate to join the team in our Sarasota, FL location. The Merchandising Associate is a creative, energetic, and confident Salt Life brand ambassador. The position takes ownership and maintains the overall store visual presentation, creating a positive shopping experience. The Merchandising Associate oversees the stockroom and inventory management. The position provides great customer service, peer direction, and a helpful presence on the sales floor. The Merchandising Associate reports to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities and Expectations

Visual Merchandising

· Create attractive visual displays

· Maintain interior and exterior signage and graphics

· Ensure promotional signage is current and in good condition

· Communicate product/fixture concerns in a timely manner

· Ensure folded and hanging products are up to the company standards

· Stay updated on market trends to develop various visual merchandising strategies

· Plan and execute floor sets utilizing company tools and knowledge

· Participate in store meetings communicating merchandising and presentation standards

· Assist the Store Manager with social media content

Inventory Management

· Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are received/transferred according to SOP

· Perform duties associated with receiving and processing trucks, such as unloading and unwrapping pallets

· Maximize company sales growth and profitability by maintaining the stockroom and sales floor and facilitating the flow of products in order to provide an engaging experience to every customer

· Replenish the sales floor in a timely manner

· Communicate weekly replenishment requests to the Store Manager, Buyer, and Visual Merchandising Manager

· Execute price changes and complete markdowns

· Assist store management in the preparation and execution of physical inventories

· Monitor and maintain inventory of all supplies

Customer Service and Loss Prevention

· Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude, and teamwork with customers, peers, and the management team

· Proactively assist the sales team, including but not limited to greeting customers, helping customers throughout their shopping experience, dressing room go-backs, and completing transactions.

· Maintain a safe work environment and report any potential hazards to store management

· Communicate all loss prevention-related concerns or incidents to store management

· Report any missing merchandise or found tags to store management

· Protect store assets and inventory through an awareness of loss prevention procedures. All suspicions and violations report to store management

· At all times, follow loss prevention policies and procedures. Never take matters into your own hands

Qualifications

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education

· Minimum 2 years working in a retail environment required, softlines preferred

· Highly creative, detail-oriented, and innovative thinker

· Ability to work store sales floor for an extended period

· Capable of handling multiple tasks at one time

· Must be an enthusiastic professional able to receive constructive criticism

· Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays

· Ability to lift at least 30 lbs., carry, push, squat, kneel, twist, turn, reach, and bend

· Computer skills to include operation of retail point of sale system

· Ability to travel and must have a driver’s license
