  • This is a technical position which provides support for desktop computers, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, telephones, and associated peripherals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting computer hardware, operating systems, applications, printers, scanners and various network devices.  Skills required include the ability to provide technical assistance, troubleshoot, research and resolve computer hardware and software problems in accordance with policy, procedures and best practices.  Position requires the ability to complete assigned work in a timely manner and to work both independently and as a team to resolve issues.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Diagnosing and resolving technology related technical issues in a timely manner
    • Making necessary hardware and software repairs, following warranty agreements, and internal procedures;
    • Documenting resolutions to assist in future events
    • Installing approved software packages such as operating systems and applications and validating functionality with the user
    • Applying patches and updates as approved
    • Providing basic instructions regarding the use of various applications and technology systems
    • Maintaining consistent high quality customer focused service levels
    • Communicating and documenting information in a clear and understandable manner
    • Taking initiative to stay up to date on current technology and issues and making recommendations to improve system performance and workflow
    • Responsible for maintaining and testing new technologies in a lab environment prior to deployment
    • Performing other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • Requires High School Diploma or GED supplemented by technical college course work, technical certifications, and previous computer support work experience
    • Preferred - Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college, university, or technical trade school with major field of study in a related discipline   
    • Minimum of two years’ experience providing technical support in a Microsoft Windows environment
    • A combination of education, technical certification, and experience will be considered

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 21 years of age
    • Ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle
    • Must be able to pass background check
    • Must be able to qualify for GCIC certification

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
    • Preferred - A Certification

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of and troubleshooting experience with various Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience and skill troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware issues on desktops, laptops, and tablets, as well as large format touchscreen devices such as Mondo Pads.
    • Ability to support remote employees with technical issues over the phone and/or using remote control applications.
    • Knowledge of wired and wireless networking concepts and environments
    • Experience with AVL, GPS, and other mobile tracking and connectivity technologies.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, coworkers, inter-department personnel, Directors, Commissioners, Judges, lawyers, law enforcement, et cetera
    • Ability to read, comprehend and apply technical knowledge in accordance with approved policies and procedures
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work; ability to handle multiple work assignments efficiently
    • Ability to deal with a variety of factors and situations and to solve practical problems
    • Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions or direct supervision
    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

    Experience with ICON Case Management, BOSS Support Central, New World Logos, GRATIS, Windows Deployment Services are a plus

    Salary: $45,000 – 50,000 annually, plus full benefits package
