Job description

The Plastek Group. is looking for an individual to fill an open PC Technician position within the Information Technology department at our corporate headquarters in Erie, PA.

The successful candidate should have experience in the support and maintenance of computer equipment all peripherals. A strong knowledge in both hardware and operating systems. The ability to work alone or in teams and transportation between locations within Erie PA is a must.

Job Description

Aid in the daily support and maintenance of computer equipment, printers, monitors and other peripherals. As needed, build, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and applications. Development and maintenance documentation and other support materials using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred capabilities for the position

• Desktop operating system knowledge including; Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 as well as understanding of Linux a plus with the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot.
• Knowledge and usage of basic network protocols, troubleshooting and IP configuration
• Experience in and usage of Microsoft Office Suite for end users support and documentation
• Experience in building PC’s, cloning HDD and building custom images
• Ability to install various software applications following published documentation
• Experience in installation, troubleshooting of inkjets, lasers, plotters, and multifunction printers
• Experience problem solving and analytical skills
• Good communication skills and technical writing abilities for documentation
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
• Make recommendations on upgrades, repair, and replacement for current and budgetary computer related items
• Experience in ordering computer software and hardware plus maintaining stock of standard hardware

Experience:

• PC TECH: 1 year (Preferred)
• Windows: 1 year (Preferred)

Software Knowledge – following are desirable but not required

Trend Micro products, Microsoft products, Adobe products, SAP, HCL (Lotus) Notes, Autocad, Pro/E (Creo), compression utilities, FTP utilities, Java, Linux

Travel
Travel locally between sites with mileage reimbursement. Possible travel to other Plastek domestic US locations.

Desired certifications and training background

• Associates Degree or equivalent technical school
• 2 Years of experience with Windows XP,7,8.1 & 10 & Windows Server 2003R2, 2008R2, & 2012, 2016, 2019 & 2022
• 3 Years of experience in computer hardware maintenance and configuration
• Certifications: CompTIA A and/or MCDST ( Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician)

The employee must be available during Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

Evaluation
The yearly based evaluation will be the extent to which the performance responsibilities of the job are successfully handled and the extent to which yearly action plans and job goals are met. The IT Manager will perform the evaluation. A merit adjusted increase will be assessed after evaluation.
