Decides on appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. Being an Underwriter (P/C) provides customer services regarding underwriting processes and decisions. May communicate with field agents to gather additional information or to explain underwriting decisions. Additionally, Underwriter (P/C) typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Underwriter (P/C) work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Description
This position is responsible for participating in an underwriting training and onboarding process through mentorship from senior underwriters and other team members. This position will learn and perform underwriting/re-underwriting functions within their level of authority, appraising and selecting risks Goodville will insure. This position will review members’ records to determine continued acceptability and adequate rates. This position will mature their interpersonal skills to assist with ensuring Agents understand and adhere to Goodville's underwriting philosophy and service to our members. This position will actively embrace, support, and promote Goodville culture and its guiding principles of Love, Justice and Integrity. This position will be expected to develop industry knowledge through the pursuit of insurance coursework and evolving product understanding.
This position will perform mono-line or multi-line in one or more of the following disciplines: Personal, Farm or Commercial Lines.
